McNair Fellowship
For First Year Graduate Students
Amount: $15,000, plus a tuition scholarship and student health plan enrollment
The McNair Program was named in honor of Ronald E. McNair, the African-American astronaut who died in the 1986 explosion of the space shuttle Challenger. First-year UK graduate students from undergraduate universities and colleges who are participants in the McNair program are eligible to be nominated for this competitive fellowship.
Criteria for Eligibility:
- Undergraduate university or college participation in the McNair Scholarship Program
- Acceptance to the UK Graduate School—professional programs not eligible
- Enrolling for their first term of study in the program in an upcoming summer session or fall semester
- No previous graduate or professional degrees from UK
- Undergraduate grade point average of 3.2 or above
